WILLEMSTAD- May 31, 2019 – Curaçao’s exciting road to increased arrivals, our airlift scenario 2020 and beyond, as well as Curaçao’s unique tourism product, were some of the topics discussed during a symposium organized especially for wholesalers from around the world. With over 75 wholesalers and airline companies participating, the Curaçao Global Trade Symposium 2019 started on May 29 and will continue until June 2. These main Trade partners were invited to come and really “feel the destination” for themselves, while conducting business meetings with the private sector partners this week. The symposium kicked off with a Welcome Reception under the stars at the Curaçao Aloe Plantation.
The Curaçao Tourist Board(CTB), the Curaçao Hospitality and Tourism Association (CHATA) and other private sector partners are hosting this remarkable and important symposium, which will contribute significantly to the growth and development strategy of our tourism industry.
The official opening took place on May 31 and included presentations by the CTB’s CEO Paul Pennicook, CHATAPresident & CEOMiles Merceraand Curaçao Airport Partners CEO Ralph Blanchard. The afternoon sessions include presentations and deliberations with the wholesalers on the marketing plan for each specific region. This was followed by a tour to inspect the progress of two large tourism projects currently in development: the Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort and the Corendon Beach Resort. On Saturday, the wholesalers will participate in a Marketplace Session that will allow them to have one-on-one meetings with Hotel representatives to negotiate new contracts and deals. The symposium will conclude with a festive dinner, a token of gratitude to these wholesalers for their participation, as well as for their commitment to the tourism product of the island Curaçao.
The Curaçao Global Trade Symposium 2019 has participation of representatives from the 4 major markets of Europe, North America, South America and the Caribbean.
