Boutique Hotel ‘t Klooster opened its doors in 2009. The ancient monument in which the hotel is situated was originally built as a monastery. The Dutch word for monastery is ´Klooster´, which explains the name of the hotel.
Boutique Hotel ‘t Klooster is located in the Pietermaai District, an upcoming neighborhood often referred to as the Soho of Curaçao. With its small streets and alleys, little cafés and cozy restaurants, it is the place to be for culture vultures. Pietermaai is about a 25 minute drive from the airport, 5 minutes to reach the beautiful and fully facilitated Seaquarium Beach, and just a 5 minutes’ walk takes you into the city centre of Willemstad.
Boutique Hotel ‘t Klooster consists of 23 double rooms and 4 one-bedroom apartments with a fully equipped kitchen. The rooms are fairly basic, although many details are remarkable. For example the original convent floors or the fact that most double rooms have an outdoor shower as well as an indoor one. The hotel has a beautiful courtyard with a plunge pool, comfortable lounge chairs and their restaurant Brasserie Chapter is well known on the Island.
The unique historic atmosphere and the informal and personal approach of the staff towards their guests have resulted in many recurring visitors. Their most memorable review beautifully summarizes this experience: “I am afraid to let the world know how wonderful this place is, cause I want it to stay my little secret. In ‘t Klooster you don’t feel like a hotel guest, here you are a house guest”.
