Avila Beach Hotel awarded as Expedia’s Top Partner on Curacao of 2016

Willemstad – The Avila Beach Hotel was awarded as Expedia’s “Top Partner of Curaçao in 2016″ during the “2017 CHTA MarketPlace in the Bahamas” that took place last week. The hotel that celebrated its 68th anniversary on February 1st was also named the most popular hotel of Curacao by Expedia; the world’s biggest online travel agent.

Criteria
Not only the amount of hotel rooms determine the winner. There are several other components that decide which hotel wins this prestigious award. The improvement of the amount of room nights (increase of 59%). Other components that influence that decision are; average daily rate (increased by 13%), hotel room turnover when compared to the previous year (increased by 87%), the collaboration between both parties and the reviews via the online platform (average score of 8.3). Moreover, Avila Beach Hotel has the most turnover of all of the Expedia partners on the island (excluding the all-inclusive hotels).

New course
Winning the Expedia Award is a great reward for the Vogels family that has taken over the helm last year and turned its course around. General Manager Robbin Vogels: “The past year we have taken a different course with a completely new and fresh house style. With our new website and blog we have a direct focus on online marketing and we are more responsive to changes in the market. There also is an emphasis on improving the quality of the restaurants, bars and the 150 rooms and apartments. This exceptional growth would not have been possible without the warmth of with which all our employees daily overflow our guests.”

Future
The hotel pointed out it will continue to strive to improve the quality of both restaurants, rooms and service. The focus on the rich history is very important to the oldest operating hotel in the island. Sustainability, community and the Pietermaai neighborhood are also center of attention and eventually the hotel aims to improve the overall tourism on Curacao. The recent appointment of Robbin Vogels as a board member of CHATA (Curaçao Hospitality & Tourism Association) is one way to achieve that.
