Air Belgium Starts Regular Flights Between Belgium and Martinique to Curaçao

Discover the Belgian class of the airline

On Saturday 3 July 2021, Air Belgium operated its first route between Belgium and the island of Curaçao. The arrival of the Belgian airline in the Dutch Antilles now offers a link between Curaçao and Brussels Charleroi, Belgium, and Fort-de-France, Martinique.

From this summer onwards, Air Belgium will operate two flights per week, every Wednesday and Saturday from Curaçao to Belgium, via Fort-de-France. In December 2019, the airline launched a service to the French Antilles and now completes its offer by operating a new route to the Dutch Antilles. While Martinique and Guadeloupe mainly attract a French-speaking clientele, Curaçao appeals to a more Dutch-speaking clientele. A way of serving the entire Belgian market.

AN AVERAGE OF 7,000 BELGIANS VISIT CURAÇAO EVERY YEAR

Every year, around 7,000 Belgian tourists travel to Curaçao on average. Air Belgium intends to significantly increase the volume of tourists from the Belgian and Dutch markets. In contrast to Amsterdam, Brussels Charleroi Airport is easily accessible for travellers from the south of the Netherlands, with a drive time of only 1.5 hours from the cities of Breda and Maastricht. In addition, as the Belgian and Dutch school holiday periods are different, Dutch passengers will find lower fares from Belgium than from the Netherlands.

The opening of this new service will also diversify the offer for the local population of Curaçao. Curaçao will know benefit from flights to Belgium, Martinique as well as Guadeloupe due to interline agreements with Air Caraïbes.
Belgium, in the heart of Europe, becomes the second European destination accessible from Curaçao, second only to the Netherlands. This way, travellers from Curaçao can choose from over 100 new low-cost European destinations from Brussels Charleroi. Passengers can also easily reach Paris by car.

“We have been working on the development of new destinations for the general public over the last few months, so it is with great pleasure that we offer our passengers the possibility to fly to the beautiful island of Curaçao in the Dutch Antilles from July onwards”, Niky Terzakis, CEO of Air Belgium.

A BELGIAN CLASS RECOGNISED FOR ITS QUALITY

The airline and its Belgian class are renowned for their excellent service and the quality of their products. Air Belgium offers a choice of three travel classes: Economy, Premium and Business. Its fares are competitive and always include a complete offer with return flights, taxes, a minimum of 30 kg of hold luggage and meals on board for all travel classes.

Air Belgium is also continuing to grow. The company’s current fleet will expand with the arrival of two new A330-900neo aircraft. These new aircraft will further improve the comfort offered to passengers. They are quieter, consume 25% less fuel and offer the best in-flight entertainment equipment.
