“Since the first edition of the Curaçao Baseball Week funds have been raised to support the baseball community through auction dinners. The last edition in 2016 was extra special, because prior to starting the auction three local celebrities held inspirational and motivational speeches. Pernell Saturnino, Didi Gregorius and Churandy Martina touched the audience with their amazing and fascinating life stories. Auctioneers Marro & Lauw auctioned several beautiful items including pieces from the celebrity speakers for the cause. With net proceeds of U$D 43.000,- the record amount raised in 2015 was beat. The standout items were 2 pieces donated by Churandy Martina; his shirt and shoes from the 2016 Olympic games. These two items alone raised half of the total amount of the entire night. It goes without saying that Blue Bay and CBW are very grateful to Churandy for his significant contribution and this is reason enough to give this donation to FDDK to support the development of track sports on the island”. According to Vincent Zrour, on behalf of Blue Bay and the Curaçao Baseball Week. Soon the other recipients of donations will be announced.
This Friday, June 2nd the main organizers will present the future plans for the Baseball Week, in collaboration with Sir Hensley ‘BAM BAM’ Meulens and Ben Thijssen.
