CPA And Aruba Government Sign A MOU For Cruise Tourism

WILLEMSTAD, ORANJESTAD – Today in Aruba, the Aruba Tourism Authority and the Curaçao Ports Authority signed a cooperative two-year agreement with a focus on cruise tourism, and a common goal to generate economic activity and prosperity for both destinations through a collaborative partnership.

The agreement, signed by Raul Manotas CCO of Curaçao Ports Authority and Ronella Tijn Asjoe-Croes, CEO of the Aruba Tourism Authority, will pursue opportunities that create a competitive advantage for the islands. The newly forged alliance is in an effort to strengthen the appeal to cruise lines and create interest in adding both destinations on cruise itineraries and stimulating Southern Caribbean cruising.

“As the No. 2 most tourism-reliant nation in the world, Aruba recognizes the importance of working with regional partners, specifically in the Southern Caribbean, to establish mutually beneficial tourism results,” said Ronella Tijn Asjoe-Croes, CEO of the Aruba Tourism Authority. “We have maintained a wonderful relationship with Curaçao for a number of years and are excited to formally partner with Curaçao Ports Authority to elevate the success of cruise tourism for both countries.”

Among other advancements of the agreement, Aruba and Curaçao will exchange cruise related information for better alignment, with the goal of generating incremental cruise business for both parties.

“Cruise tourism is an instrumental part to Aruba and Curaçao’s economic growth and we trust this agreement will be a driver of a more successful future for all involved,” said Raul Manotas, CCO of Curaçao Port Authority. “Our joint venture will be a cooperative effort to expand on future opportunities that present positive tourism increases for the industry.”
