In search for the next local culinary talent
Willemstad, (August 18 th , 2017) – CHATA is proud to announce that it will start recruiting
new local bartenders and chefs to form part of the Curaçao Culinary Team 2018 on August
19th . In addition to this the Curaçao Culinary Team 2017, silver medalist of the Taste of the
Caribbean 2017 will provide all interested participants important culinary tips and tricks
that they can apply in the upcoming competitions.
The Curaçao Culinary Team is a team of young local chefs and bartender that represent the
island annually in the Caribbean culinary competition in Miami, the “Taste of the Caribbean”. Through this competition CHATA would like to contribute to the development of our local talents and promote Curaçao as a culinary destination. Participating Chefs and Bartenders of the Curaçao Culinary Team are trained throughout the year to perfect their skills by local as well as international professionals. In addition to this the Culinary Team will have the unique opportunity to compete internationally for the best chefs and
bartender of the Caribbean.
For the Curaçao Culinary Team of 2018, CHATA is looking for 5 to 6 chefs and 1 bartender.
The cooking competition will take place on September 23 rd at the Papagayo Beach Hotel.
The competition will be based on a mystery basket in which contestants have to create an
entrée and a main course. During registration this Saturday at the Papagayo Beach the
Curaçao Culinary Team will also provide a short workshop to all interested participants
which they can apply in the competitions.
As for the bartender competition the contestants will compete at Licores Maduro on
September 26th . The bartenders will start of by making 3 cocktails for the judges thereafter,
a couple of contestants will advance to the final round in which they will create their own
cocktail based on a mystery basket. At the end of the day, the judges will present the
winners and hence, our new Culinary Team 2018.
CHATA encourages all interested parties whom are employed by a CHATA member to sign
up and looks forward to a fierce competition.
