Event organizer Evento Curaçao, also knows for its popular Christmas Fair and King’s Day celebration in Pietermaai, is introducing a new concept: Pup-up. Pop-up stores are a worldwide trend of temporary stores usually in spaces that have been empty. Evento Curaçao is making use of the empty building in Nieuwestraat in Pietermaai Distric, next to Mundo Bizarro, to sell items that are in demand in Curaçao.
De first edition of the Evento Pop-up will be from March 31 to April 2nd and will focus on Fashion. “We will sell items that are affordable , especially second-hand items so that is it affordable for everyone” says marijke Hoos from Evento Curaçao. According to Ms Hoos there is a big demand for affordable clothing on the island. “The supply of affordable fashion on our island is limited.” Ms Hoos asks women to deliver their unused clothes, shoes and accessories at Evento Curaçao’s office. “We sell the clothes in our temporary store and share the profit 50/50. A good reason to clean up your closet and get some extra cash on the side.” The first women have already delivered their clothes and over a hundred items are in stock already. “The ladies bring bags filled with clothes, some never been worn but have been in the closet for years, a common problem in women who shop online. It’s so much fun to shop online, but what a pity once it’s delivered and it’s not your style or size.” Hoos explains that they don’t take just any set of clothes, they take their time to evaluate each item. Broken clothes, stained clothes or broken shoes are not accepted. “It can be worn, but it has to be in a good state.”
Evento Curaçao calls out to all women to come shop at this pop-up store in Nieuwestraat 8-10 from March 31 – April 2nd. Delivery of items is possible until Wednesday, March 29th with an appointment. Children’s clothes are also welcome.
