Fundraising event Kas di Pal’i Maishi

On Friday, April 6th, our President & CEO, Miles Mercera was the keynote speaker at the Fundashon Museo Kas di Pal’i Maishi’s  fundraising lunch. Museo Kas di Pal’i Maishi is a small restored Kunuku House in BandaBou that  provides visitors the opportunity to experience how the majority of the island’s population lived from 1850 till the 1950th.  In addition to this the museum also provides workshops focused on traditional crafts in order to ensure the survival thereof.  The aim of the fundraising lunch was to collect funds to invest in the expansion and restoration of Museo Kas di Pal’i Maishi.

The fundraising  lunch took place at midday at Hofi Wayacá. During this luncheon catered by the young professionals of the Curaçao Culinary Team, visitors enjoyed a short presentation by Miles Mercera whom elaborated on the increasing importance of museums in our tourism industry. According to Miles Mercera, “As the world develops and boundaries fade, differences between countries become less evident. For this reason, people are increasingly seeking authenticity through history and culture both locally and in their travels. Museums such as Museo Kas di Pal’i Maishi cater to this need. However most museums rarely receive subsidies and struggle to find funding. Therefore as citizens of Curaçao it is our responsibility to support Museums such as Museo Kas di Pal’I Maishi to ensure the safe keeping of our heritage.”
