Hotel Occupancy in December 2018 increases compared to previous year

Willemstad – In December 2018, Curaçao registered a hotel occupancy of 74.3%. That’s a positive increase of 2.4% compared to 2017.

Both the Average Daily Rate (ADR) and the Revenue per Available Room (RevPar) have also increased in the month of December according to the figures provided by CHATA.  The ADR in December 2018 was $195.18 which is $19.53 more than in 2017. And the RevPar was $145.11, which is $19.09 more than the year before. December signals the start of the high season within the tourism industry. There is a high demand for our destination, especially coming from countries with a cold weather such as the Netherlands. This high demand leads to an increase of the ADR as well as occupancy. The data on hotel performance is collected monthly by STR. The figures are based on 11-14 properties which represent a total of 2500 rooms on the island.

In the coming weeks, CHATA will also emit a year review to reflect on the hotel performance of 2018. The figures already indicate that 2018 has outperformed 2017.  For more information about hotel performance visit www.chata.org.
