Marriott Curaçao under new ownership

Willemstad (August 29th, 2016) – The Rif Resort, known as the hotel complex of the Marriott Curaçao, has been sold. The Piscamar Beach Resort of the Orco Group is the new owner of the hotel complex.

The hotel will shut its doors for renovation after the Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival. It was agreed that the Orco Group will invest at least 33.7 million dollars in a major renovation. An additional floor will be added to the hotel and the number of rooms will be expanded to 324.

Orco Group and Marriott International estimate that the renovations will take approximately 18 months to be completed. The Marriott employees have been informed on Saturday about the next steps.

Curaçao Hotel and Tourism Association (CHATA) and the Ministry of Social Development, Labor and Welfare will assist in finding new job openings for the employees. After reopening the new owner decides whether and which of the former employees, will be offered employment at the hotel again. The hotel will, after the renovation, continue under the Marriott name.

We kindly ask you as our member to send us ALL OPEN VACANCIES before Friday September 3rd EOD in order for these to be shared with the Marriott employees. Please send the job description, requirements and contact person.
