WILLEMSTAD, 10 March 2017 – The Children’s Council grants TUI the opportunity to involve secondary and middle school students in coming up with ideas towards the development of tourism. With great success: At the beginning of the year TUI won the Sustainable Travel Award during the Travel gala in The Netherlands for this initiative. Caroline Hartel of TUI Curaçao handed this award to the Children’s Council of the Dr. Albert Schweitzer College in the presence of Princess Laurentien of the Missing Chapter Foundation. The four Children’s Councils of Curaçao also shared their experience with Princess Laurentien.
For the past two years TUI has been focused on increasing the dialogue between organizations and children in the Netherland Antilles. This is the reason why they have been rewarded with the Sustainable Travel Award during the Travel Gala in The Netherlands. The efforts shown by the parties involved have led to the arrival of Princess Laurentien last week in Bonaire, in order to start Bonaire’s first four Children’s Councils.
On all the three ABC islands – Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao – Businesses as well as organizations consult with children regarding the forming of future policies and legislation.
Currently, there are more than 70 businesses actively engaged with a Children’s Council within The Dutch Kingdom.
