Earlier in the month, Joep Vercauteren paid a visit to the CHATA Office to officially hand in the first sample of his new book, ‘Onverwacht Curaçao’, to CHATA Managing Director, Mrs. Maria-Helena Seferina-Rojas. The book is a tourism book that focuses on Mr. Vercauteren’s experience here in Curaçao, emphasizing on Curaçao’s history, activities, attractions, culture and the community. Aside from the more touristic part of the island, the book also guides you through the nightlife, work life, and even the driving experience, with and without goats on the side of the road. He also touches base on the islands most well known events such as Fuikdag, Carnival, Ride for the Roses, Seú and many more.
CHATA’s Chairman, Mr. Hans Slier, also had the honor to write an afterword for the book:
“As a result of the historical ties between the Netherlands and the former Netherlands Antilles, Curaçao sounds familiar to many people in the Kingdom. But did you know that this island is also known as an ideal holiday destination for every type of traveler? Whether traveling alone, with your family, with friends or with your loved one, there is always something to do on this tropical island. This book tells everything about Mr. Vercauteren’s journey. For example, you will find tips on where to go and what to do. Once you get there you will realize why he fell in love with the island, the culture and the people. Come and experience it for yourself and hopefully you will also be inspired by the beauty of the island.”
