Hotel Occupancy in March 2019 increases compared to previous year

In March of 2019 Curaçao registered a hotel occupancy of 79.4%. Compared to 2018 (78.0%) this is an increase of 1.4 percentage points.

The Average Daily Rate (ADR) increased with 6.9% compared to 2018, to $181.01.

As for the revenue per available room (RevPAR), numbers also indicate an increase of 8.8%. The revenue per available room in March 2018 was $132.11 and in 2019 it was $143.70.

With Curaçao enjoying favorable weather all year long and March marking the last official winter month in other countries, March remains a great month for a summer vacation destination. This demand leads to an increase of occupancy as well as the ADR, which automatically also means an increase in RevPAR.

March also concludes the last month of the first quarter of this year. Looking back at the Q1 forecast, which clearly indicated an increase in numbers, it’s safe to conclude that the hotel performance for the first quarter have met the forecasted numbers pretty close.

The data on hotel performance is collected monthly by STR. The figures are based on 11-14 properties which represent a total of 2500 rooms on the island.
