The Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort proudly announces the successful completion of its “Food & Beverage Summer Program.” This initiative provided professional advancement and employment opportunities to 9 participants from the local community.
According to Tirza Garmes, Director of Human Resources at Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort: “This program underscores our commitment to raising service standards and giving back to our local community. Recognizing that the service and hospitality sector is of great importance to Curaçao, the Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort is dedicated to contributing to the growth and excellence of the industry. As part of the Marriott ‘Serve360’ mission, we believe we have a responsibility to develop not only our employees and hospitality interns but also our community at large. Through this opportunity, our program plays a crucial role in providing educational and growth opportunities to our island.”
In June 2024, we reached out to the public through social media and newspapers to register for this program. Of the 33 people who applied, 13 were selected for the course. It is important to note that the selection was based on motivation, not just education. In this way, Marriott contributes to the quality and quantity of people who can enhance the hospitality sector on the island.
The course consisted of 2 lessons per week, lasting 6 weeks. The aim is to offer a job to all participants who successfully complete the course. The courses covered topics such as hygiene, serving techniques, wine knowledge, teamwork, and much more.
Since the start of the Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort’s ‘Food & Beverage Summer Program’ in 2020, 47 participants have successfully completed the course.
