Willemstad August 19th, 2018- Over 1.200 people attended the Island Job Fair hosted by CHATA on Saturday August 18th. Over 25 companies within or related to the tourism sector participated to scout new talent. The fair was the center stage of +100 vacancies.
According to President & CEO Miles Mercera “CHATA is extremely satisfied with the turn out and that so many attended the fair to make use of this unique opportunity to meet face to face with potential future employers. However, CHATA is also extremely concerned by the amount of job seeking individuals within our community. The Island Job Fair should serve as a wakeup call to our island that it is even more important to do our utmost to support our tourism industry that has the potential to provide direct employment to many. Currently the sector employs over 11.000 people and contributes with over 900 million guilders to the local economy. Sustainable growth of this sector will result in job creation and growth of our economy. The fact remains that our industry produces one (1) direct job for every additional 44 visitors that we welcome. In order to further develop the tourism sector, we must work together to develop this unique tourism product we call Curaçao.
